During rehearsals is the absolute best time to make the big changes. Talk back and forth with the band until you have everything you need to achieve a great mix.

Once you have everything you need from vocals and musicians, turn up the gain on each channel until you have -18dB to -12dB at the loudest part of the song.

Gain is the most important tool to achieve a great mix.

Whenever you power up your console, check the gain on each channel as the band is playing. -18dB during the loudest part of the song guarantees a great start.

Take the time to learn a channel and the channel strip completely. Once you've mastered one channel, you'll be able to mix every channel. They're all the same. If you get stumped, call/text me.
